John Coleman has run ‘Bromfolk’ , Bromborough Folk Club for 30 + years, having previously run the Met Club, Liverpool ‘inherited’ from the late great Pete McGovern ( author of many popular Liverpool songs, inc ‘In My Liverpool Home’) and Brian Jaques, great singer, raconteur and successful author (not only) of ‘Redwall’. John has been supported by many friends and musicians in Merseyside over the years. The current regular co-hosts at Bromborough Folk Club include Steve Barker, Hilary Harper, Julian Pellant, Henry Ball and a regular guest host from Maghull Folk Club, Paul ‘Formby’ Robinson.
A well run club, a full, lively and loyal audience, performers and supporters, including our resident Shanty Crew, ‘Port Sunlight Sea Dogs’ enjoy a popular high profile in Merseyside. Other ‘Bromfolkers’ have successful bands themselves, and are well supported at their own events. Liverpool and Wirral. Floor singers are always welcome. Bromborough Folk Club rarely charges entry, it survives on the generosity of donations to the raffle, and is always generous with prizes!
