"A Voyage in Sea Shanties".
The BRIDGE INN, Port Sunlight. SAT 3 FEB. 2018. 7.30pm.
About a year ago, Port Sunlight Sea Dogs were asked to participate in a documentary film.
In spite of another request from the Coen Bros, we happily agreed, as it meant we didn’t have to sail the Atlantic, because, as you know, we all get sea sick!
As filming went on, the film-makers decided to develop it as a seafaring history, with live recordings from our performances on location (we’ve always wanted to say that...), in various venues, at numerous events, not to mention several hostelries. It was a great experience, many of you were there, and have supported and encouraged us along the way. We are dancing a jig to hear that the film is finished!
Entitled “A Voyage in Sea Shanties”, the film by James Chalmers and Sue Bence, has been entered in the 2018 BRITISH AMATEUR FILM FESTIVAL !! The outcome of the film festival competition takes place in
April 2018. With another short film entitled “We are the Port Sunlight Sea Dogs”.
Both films will be presented to our friends and supporters at a FILM PREMIERE event at the place it all began, Bromborough Folk Club.
The films will be followed by a live set from Port Sunlight Sea Dogs.
A FREE event, but guests will need to contact us for tickets to be collected or reserved. Please join us.
Here’s a little taster from the film-making journey.
